Back on the ferry

August 14: Returned car and did last Mendenhall hike. Ventured down a trail and we were quickly engulfed by the rainforest. Saw bear tracks on the trail and finally got to a point in the trail where it was closed because of bear activity near the spawning stream.

On to the ferry, getting to be old hands at this. This ride was only 5 hours. Ferry has a forest service naturalist  onboard that gave informative presentations on Haines, Skagway, and Eagles as we headed toward Haines.
Oldest Light House in Alaska

Rainbow Glacier
Got to Haines at 7:00Pm and checked in at Haines Hitch-Up RV Park. Laundry in park was closed until 7:30 AM, not sure why all the parks have very restrictive hours on their laundries. Have wifi but must pay for service. Park is very nice and clean and owners very helpful with local information. Tomorrows plans up in the air.

Will be 4 days before we have wifi again to post blog and check e-mail.  We have driven 4000 miles of our 10,000 mile trip.
